The SA Legion's 90th birthday
The South African Legion arose out of the British Empire Service League, itself born on 21 February 1921 and later in the year the Cape Town Branch of the BESL (South African Legion) received a Charter dated 6 September 1921. The Branch will have given 90 years of service to the military veteran community of Cape Town by September 2011.
Date: Tuesday, 6 September 2011
A celebratory birthday lunch will be held at Rosedale, a residence for military veterans and the home of the Cape Town Branch, on Tuesday 6 September 2011.
Residents and members of the Branch will attend but unfortunately seating is restricted to 200 so it will be a ‘first come - first served’ event.
Date: Friday, 9 September 2011
On Friday, 9 September, the Chairman and Executive Committee will host a cocktail party at Rosedale. Provincial and Civic dignitaries, senior Defence Force members and those of Veteran organisations will be invited to celebrate the 90th Birthday of the Branch.
Date: Friday, 23 September 2011
A Golf Day is the third event to be organised. It will take place at the Mowbray Golf Club on Friday, 23 September 2011 with a Gun Fire start provided by a 25pdr gun/howitzer of Cape Field Artillery, South Africa’s senior Gunner Unit.
The competition will be a four ball, better ball alliance Stableford, with two scores to count. The Legion is hoping for a full house for this occasion.
All golfers are welcome. For further information please telephone the SA Legion at Cape Town on 021 689 9771.

Last but not least, the residents of Rosedale will hold a Garden Party on the lawns at the residence on Saturday 29 October 2011.
